How to convert MOD to AVI

Hello,

I want to convert one video format to AVI MOD, I Have a JVC Everio HDD camcorder, I am facing the problem which is very common among JVC camcorder user, I dont know how to convert the .mod file in to avi or any other popular file format. Is there any software to convert the videos in Avi format.

I also have JVC camcorder, and I installed softwares provided with CDs and it worked. So maybe I had already installed the codecs that are needed, I know that "DiVX" provides you a lot of codecs, you can download it anywhere, on net in any case sure. But I do not know if it will play. In any case these codecs there are quite useful to read lots of videos.
