Where are IE favorites located
I want to synchronize my IE 8 favorites and save it on my external drive but the problem is that I am unable to find it. I have googled it a lot for this but I didn't got any solution. I have used Mozilla Firefox at many times and knows every minute details about it but no idea about IE. Can you tell me where are IE favorites located?
Re: Where are IE favorites located
Open your Internet Explorer. Now look for "File" menu on top of the page. Under File menu, you will find "Import Export" option. Click on it and you will see Import/Export Wizard will open up. Follow the wizard steps to create the favorites file onto your hard drive. Now you can easily take this file on your external drive such as PEN drive or some USB hard disk. I hope this helps.

To export the Favorites folder from your Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:
1. In Internet Explorer, click Favorites, click the down-arrow next to Add to Favorites, and then click Import and Export.
2. Click Export to a file, and then click Next.
3. Click to select the Favorites check box, and then click Next.
4. Select the Favorites folder that you want to export. If you want to export all Favorites, select the top level Favorites folder. Otherwise, select the individual folder that you want to export.
5. Click Next.
6. Click Next.
7. Click Export.
8. Click Finish.
By default, Internet Explorer creates a Bookmark.htm file in your Documents folder. You can directly go into your "My Documents" folder and copy the Bookmark.htm file or else use the above method to save the favorites file.

You can even use Registry Editor to change the Favorites location.
1. Start Registry Editor by clicking on "Start" button, then selecting "Run" and then typing "regedit" and press "OK" button.
2. Look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
3. Double click on Favorites
4. Enter the new location
5. Click on the OK button
6. Do the same for the User Shell Folders section a few lines down
7. Close Registry Editor
8. Restart your computer.
