Do i need a router for a wireless printer
Hi,
I have wired router connected to my home network. I have internet sharing on my wired router and network properly sharing internet on connected computers. I need to connect wireless printer on my network. So do i need a new wireless router or i can connect it to this router?
Thank you for any reply.
Re: Do i need a router for a wireless printer
Router connects all parts of the network as the middle link of chain system. If you want a single computer to access printer, you can set wireless printer with one computer. For that you don't need a router. Check out these threads for more help:

Re: Do i need a router for a wireless printer
If you have any computer with wireless settings, then you can set connection over that printer. It won't connect to the printer automatically. You need to go through the settings for that. Go through this thread on http://forums.techarena.in/networkin...ty/1119236.htm for settings. You can setup a computer by the printer and share that printer with your network.
Re: Do i need a router for a wireless printer
You need a wireless router to share the printer on network. You can put all your computer on the same wireless network by replacing the wired router. Follow the steps below to connect the wireless router to printer:
- Install and configure the wireless router
- Plug the printer into the wireless router
- Click on Start
- Go to Control Panel
- Click on Printers and Faxes
- Right click on the shared printer
- Select sharing
- Check the "Share This Printer" box
- Click OK
