I am running windows xp on my system. After every startup it remind me that chkdsk has been scheduled. What is procedure to unschedule the chkdsk again. It checks disk for errors in hard disk, it scans the hard disk.

Remove the Chkdsk.exe or the Autochk.exe program from Scheduled Tasks, Follow these steps to remove the Chkdsk.exe or the Autochk.exe program :
- Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Scheduled Tasks.
- Click either Chkdsk or Autochk in the list of scheduled tasks.
- Under Folder Tasks, click Delete this item.
To unschedule chkdsk follow this step : Go to the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager Look for the REG_MULTI_SZ value with the following name: BootExecute. The command "autocheck autochk /p \??\C:" is what we want to change. Change replace the "/p \??\C:" with an asterisk (*). If you don't want any checks to be performed, delete all autocheck entries. Press OK to dismiss the edit dialog.Close Registry Editor.
To unschedule checkdsk open up RegEdit, go to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Session Manager, and look for the REG_MULTI_SZ named BootExecute. Edit that key and remove all the lines except autocheck autochk *.
