How to change clock speed on CPU
I have recently changed my processor from AMD Athlon 2.1 GHz to Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz. The clock speed of the two processor is different and the new one is lower than the previous one. How can I change the clock speed of CPU? Or should I keep it as it is? Does it affects anyway?
Re: How to change clock speed on CPU
The clock speed(s) are 2.1 GHz & 2.4 GHz and it has been upgraded. Try running CPU-Z to identify your CPU, socket type & clock settings. You don't need to change the setting if your computer usage is not too much. I mean if you don't play high end games or do photo editing then I would say not to change the clock speed. Because this might result in unstable computer.
Re: How to change clock speed on CPU
You shouldn't have to do anything at all to get the processor above 2.4 GHz. This is also a stable state. Look in the bios if there is some setting that you want to change if you want. However avoid messing around with your BIOS settings unless you know exactly what you are doing.
Re: How to change clock speed on CPU
Reboot your computer. Go into the BIOS and look for CPU Clock Ratio and CPU frequency. These are the two things that you will need to change. Make the appropriate changes and save it. Just keep this mind that you move slowly in order to avoid unstable system. Restart your computer and see if the changes took effect. Test your computer with prime95 or cpuz and see if the system is stable. Repeat the above procedure if you want to go further.
