Replacing DDR 226 SODIMM with DDR2 667 SODIMM
Hi,
I have an old laptop with DDR - 266 speed SODIMM. My friend has a DDR2 - 667 SODIMM ram ideal. I can see that both the chips are same. I just want to know if the DDR2 667 SODIMM would work in DDR 226 Speed SODIMM chip or not? Replacing DDR 226 SODIMM with DDR2 667 SODIMM.
I want to know if this can be done or not? Is it possible?
Thanks.

I clearly want to tell you that DDR & DDR2 are both different kind of RAM chips.
I don't think it will work the way you want. DDR2 will not work on a laptop designed around DDR.
You have to check the specification of your Laptop. What is the model of laptop you have? Maybe that will let us know more about your configuration.

DDR2 and DDR are different. I must say that you are at risk if you are replacing DDR2 with DDR 1 RAM. They use different voltage and different physically.
If you don't want any dameges to your laptop the i would suggest you to bu7y an appropriate RAM that supports your Laptop. There are countless reasons why DDR and DDR2 are not interchangable.

No. No it will not work.
You can use DDR1 RAM on motherboard with DDR2 support & vice-versa only if its split RAM made for both platform. In this case too you can use either of the 2 sides of RAM at a time.
You cant use DDR 2 RAM with DDR slot because their pins are not same. Even the voltage on the RAM is different & different notches.
