Disable System Restore on Server 2008?
Hi,
OS: Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2
Have a trojan infection and need to turn off system restore.
The Control Panel/System applet has no "System Protection" item listed under
tasks( as in Vista).
The System Properties dialog has no "System Protection" tab either.
How do I go about this, or is there some "new way" of dealing with this type
of issue now?
Regards,
Mike

Hello cushlomokree,
There is no system restore as you know it from vista in windows server 2008.
So what exact do you mean?

Re: Disable System Restore on Server 2008?
I'm referring to the mechanism whereby system files are backed up (and
restored when when deleted or modified). This is a problem when a virus
successfully infects one of these files, since it becomes part of the
backup.
Almost all antivirus/antispyware programs instruct the user to temporarily
disable system restore in order to enable successful removal.
Is there another mechanism ( In Server) that enables removal without a
shadow or backed-up copy of the virus from immediately replacing the
removed/quarantined file(s)?
Sorry for the cross-posting, I didn't know which group was appropriate.
Regards,
Mike

Hello cushlomokree,
Ok, you mean Windows resource protection. I think there is no way to disable
this. Check this one about:
