I can't log on! logon password does not work in windows vista
Alright, I just got a brand new lap top today. Before leaving my house for about 3 hours I check to make sure wireless internet works and set up a password. When I get back home my password does not work. I've tried using safe mode and also tried various passwords that I would usually use. I've also tried bringing up the command prompt, but for some reason I can't. I'd love to be able to use my new laptop, and this makes me sad. Please help.

First restart your computer
before boot up screen comes on press F8
Boot up in safe mode.
Choose the "Administrator" account.
Change password as usual.

Have you tried to contact your service provider. The issue can from there. It is possible that for a temporary basis the internet was not available. Tell them to mail your account id password, if it is provided by them. Other wise if you are dialing via dial up connection go to setting and reset your account id and password.
re: I can't log on! logon password does not works
I will suggest you to go for any software that will allow you to recover the password from the failure, it will cost you little more but you will could collect your data safely and you could have access to your laptop..or else if you don't have any important data in your computer then go for system formatting this will cost you nothing only you will loose your data.

well if you dont have the administrator password you cant do something. you must have it in order to use recovery console. what i would advise you instead is to repair the windows you will use your drivers but not your works. Sometimes when windows crashes you cant repair it and the only way is to format your computer.

I fixed the problem by doing a whole system recovery. I didn't have anything important on it, so it didn't matter. Thanks those that answered.
