Re: My Windows XP shutdowns very slowly
After your work when you give the shutdown command your xp takes a long time for the process. There are several cause for this problem. The most common one is Clear Pagefile at Shutdown option is enabled.
When you shutdown your OS just take care all the pagefile should be cleared.
To clean shutdown the system this option cause the page file to cleared at the time of shutting down. Due to this you system takes a long time.
Now you can disable this ClearPagefile option to increase the time of your shutdown.
Go to Start Menu > Run > regedit.
Navigate to - [HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
Set ClearPageFileAtShutdown value to 0.
You can also do this by using Group Policy Editor
Go on Start Menu > Run > and type Secpol.msc
Click on Local Policies | Security Options
In the right side of the windows set the Shutdown to Clear virtual memory pagefile to Disabled
Click Start, Run and type Secpol.msc
Click Local Policies | Security Options
In the right-pane, set Shutdown: Clear virtual memory pagefile to Disabled
Re: My Windows XP shutdowns very slowly
I was having the same problem. To clear out this matter do the following steps :
Click on Start and open the Run dialog box.
Type regedit.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control.
After, click on the Control Folder.
Select the option of WaitToKillServiceTimeout
Right click on it and select the option of Modify.
Set the value of this option to lower than 2000.
As the value 20,000 controls the time of XP shutdown process, by reducing the value it take less time.
Re: My Windows XP shutdowns very slowly
Do the below mentioned process and get rid of this problem :

In window type " shutdown -s -t 0"
Select Next
Give the name for the short cut Fast Shutdown and select Finish.
Now right click on the new icon select properties.
Select Change icon
Click OK to continue and select a icon for the shortcut.
After that this becomes a shortcut to shutdown you system faster than normal procedure.
