Just try to go to your Tools menu-->Select AutoCorrect Options and then click on AutoFormat As You Type tab.. Then put uncheck mark on the box wjich is the next to the Border lines on the "Apply as you type" section. Now you can save it in your Normal.dot.

Inorder to remove it, try to place your cursor on the right and after that click on the backspace. If you are using any dashes or underscores, it won't go completely across, you just have to keep on hitting the space bar depending how long lines have you made.

You can follow the below steps mention.
Open your particular document having the horizontal lines on it. Then go to the Edit menu and then select all. then go to Format and then click on Borders and Shading. Then on Borders and Shading Window, go to settings and select none. Then Under Apply to click on the down pointer and choose Text. and at last click on he ok tab.
You can also try out the another by just running the mouse on those lines along with the white area on the left side of the page and then just point the line and press the left mouse button. And then press Delete key on the keyboard.
That's it.
