Have Ubuntu and Kubuntu on 2 different partitions
Hello,
I have fun with Ubuntu for some time, but I found Kubuntu and I have in my choice of operating systems as I can do with Ubuntu and Windows XP now.
I have approx. 7GB free space (not formatted) to my HDD and I install Kubuntu, but I do not know how to swap and / home.
I know there is Kubuntu-desktop in Ubuntu, but I would like to have the full version of Ubuntu Kubuntu separately.
Thank you very much!
Re: Have Ubuntu and Kubuntu on 2 different partitions
This is the same as for Ubuntu, you know the Ubuntu and Kubuntu Xubuntu see are the same thing but with a different desktop environment.
Ubuntu and Edubuntu: Gnome
Kubuntu: KDE
Xubuntu: Xfce
Re: Have Ubuntu and Kubuntu on 2 different partitions
As stated in another post the same thing. You installed Ubuntu and then install KDE you start you have to choose between Gnome and KDE.
Re: Have Ubuntu and Kubuntu on 2 different partitions
Hello,
I know that Ubuntu and Kubuntu do not have the same interface, but as you know, there are applications that change from one operating system to another, and when you install the "kubuntu-desktop ", it was the OS of the two applications together. The best of both worlds you might say, but when you have two OS "merged" together, we do not know what application goes with what OS, and as I started with Linux (and Ubuntu and Kubuntu), I Adept just that KDE is what Synaptic Gnome. I know I'm picky!
Re: Have Ubuntu and Kubuntu on 2 different partitions
I finally installed the two OS separately.
You install Ubuntu first and made the following partitions:
hda1: Windows XP
hda5: swap
hda6: / (for Ubuntu)
hda7: / home (for Ubuntu)
Then, when installing Ubuntu is completed, it restarts and installs Kubuntu with the following partitions:
hda8: / (for Kubuntu)
dev/hda9: / home (for Kubuntu)
The swap is the same for both OS.
So when you restart, you can choose between XP, Ubuntu and Kubuntu.
Thank you for your help!
