DDR2 1200 MHz or DDR2 800MHz with lower clocks ?
Hello,
I'm busy putting together a new system, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.67 GHz, 1066 MHz, 8 MB. Asus P5q Pro. The processor would I go about clocks between 3 and 3.4 GHz. Motherboard has FSB 1600 support, 1200ddr2 support only on my previous system was the memory bottleneck on the clock. Have always sworn by Kingston HyperX, and am now back to look. Now I'm just considering it is better DDR 2 1200 MHz memory with slightly higher clocks, or DDR2 800MHz with lower clocks? Or memory clock on?
Someone suggestions, tips ?

More mhz beat so far still tighter timings. 1200 mhz ram so, or 800 ram Overclock that is available to those regions . if you can combine the two is ideal.

Usually is 800 Mhz DDR2 4-4-4-12 and 1066 Mhz DDR2 5-5-5-15 (which is somewhat higher). You notice nothing and if you have a FSB over 400, you will have memory that works well over the 800 Mhz. a lot 5-5-5-15 1066 Mhz memory even to 800 Mhz and 4-4-4-12.

It is best for your memory to run 1:1 with your FSB. If you get together with DDR2 800 memory with relatively low timings I would go for it Do you have such a high FSB you should not get together I would go for faster memory, which you then what timings tighter than in court.
I see only now that you have a Q6700. This is standard on 266MHz (1066 / 4) FSB. If you want to overclock to 3.4 GHz or do you think your FSB to: 3400/10 = 340MHz FSB it. You need more than enough to DDR2 800 memory, you would still be able to try higher clocks or tighter timings of the memory to you have in any case nothing to faster memory.
Re: DDR2 1200 MHz or DDR2 800MHz with lower clocks ?
if you DDR2 1200 and that a little overclock to DDR2 1340, you can run single memory channel Then it's that high-speed still 1:1 with your motherboard. Go for it!
This is your processor at 3.4 GHz want. If your FSB set at 300, then your cpu runs at 3.0GHz and your memory DDR2 1200. Nice.
