Change the colors in the command prompt
Here is a trick totally useless but very nice! It will allow you to change the background color and text in your windows DOS command prompt (accessible via Start> Programs> Accessories> Command Prompt).
Open regedit (Start menu, Run ... and type regedit)
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Command Processor
Edit DWORD Value DefaultColor by a hexadecimal value
Re: Change the colors in the command prompt
The default value is 0 (white text on black background). Use the color codes below to change the default colors.
- 0 = Black
- 1 = blue
- 2 = green
- 3 = cyan
- 4 = red
- 5 = magenta
- 6 = yellow
- 7 = light gray
- 8 = gray
- 9 = light blue
- A = light green
- B = Light Cyan
- C = light red
- D = magenta
- E = Light yellow
- F = white highlight
The colors are expressed by a hexadecimal number with two digits. The first is the background color and the second to the text color. For example, 1F will highlight white text on a blue background.
