Enable/Disable New Shortcut Menu
Many of us wants to restrict many things from other people to operate on our system. But we can't tell them to stop that. On of that is creating new shortcut menu. Many times we restrict drive access but sometimes it might be accessible using "New -> Shortcut" menu.So there is an trick so that no one will be able to create a new shortcut anywhere in your system. If you are using Windows XP, follow this steps to do so:-
1. Open regedit and goto: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk\ShellNew
2. In right-side pane, you'll see a string value "Command". Double-click on it and delete the complete string from "Value data" box. Like this:
3. That's it. Now whenever a user will try to create "New -> Shortcut", Windows will show error message as "Not enough memory to complete this operation"
Re: Enable/Disable New Shortcut Menu
Disable New shortcut menu in Vista and Windows 7:-
- Open regedit and goto: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk\ShellNew
- Now delete the "Shellnew" key.
- That's it. It'll completely remove "Shortcut" item from "New" menu
