Problem while installing VB6 on Vista
Hello,
I just bought a laptop with Vista SP1 and I tried to install VB6. The installation itself installed normally. As against when I wanted to open a project .Vbp, I got a box with the message: "Error accessing system registry " This message appeared each time i try to open .vbp project. .
Does anyone have an explanation?
Thank you in advance.
Re: Problem while installing VB6 on Vista
I don't have a Vista-capable machine at this time. Everything I can remember reading by Microsoft people about installing and using VB6 on Vista suggests:
- Install from original CDs under an Admin account with elevation (administrative rights).
- Install SP6 under Admin account with elevation.
- Run VB6 IDE under Admin account with elevation.
- Run any compiled VB6 programs under Admin account with elevation.
Re: Problem while installing VB6 on Vista
Try to verify that the problem indeed is with the registry. Try using the registry editor with Start > Run > Regedit, or run any other applications.
If the problem is with the registry itself, try restoring it, or reinstall Windows.
If other apps are running fine, try reinstalling VB or Visual Studio.
