The VPN is a secure network connection that is layered on top of a public network, such as the Internet. A VPN is a method of connecting to a private network by a public network like the Internet. There are basically two connections in VPN one for Incoming & another for outgoing. I understand how to set up the VPN on the Windows 7 machine, but where do I find the information to connect now from outside the network, i.e., L2TP or PPTP, Server IP, etc...

Re: Configure your Computer to Accept VPN Connections in Windows 7
Is there any ports i need to open on my dlink router? Also, what about the Windows 7 firewall? Do i need to disable the windows firewall?
Re: Configure your Computer to Accept VPN Connections in Windows 7
As you create a VPN network on your system it is possible that some third party security application or your firewall is blocking the connection. For this you might need to disable the same for some time and check back. Disable the firewall and other things for ports assigning is done by Windows itself. You can also add the connection under exception list.
