Re: Remote Assistance Problem in Windows Xp
Although the Start menu shortcut and the Remote tab have not been installed, the Remote Desktop Connection application itself is installed. The user interface elements may be hidden if the permissions on the \Inetpub directory or the \Inetpub\Adminscripts directory deny full control to the Local System account.
To restore the Remote tab on the System Properties page
- In Windows Explorer, right-click %windir%\System32\remotepg.dll, and then click Open With.
- Click Open With, click Select the program from a list, and then click OK.
- Click Browse, navigate to %windir%\System32\regsvr32.exe, and select this file.
- Click Open, click OK, and then click OK again.
Re: Remote Assistance Problem in Windows Xp
Hello, You can run the Remote Desktop client from the command line using the "mstsc" command. Run mstsc /? for command syntax.
Otherwise Go to the "C:\Windows\System32" folder and find the "mstsc.exe"
file. Right click on the file and select "Create shortcut". Move that shortcut to the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs Accessories\Communications" folder. The system may tell you that you need to make this short cut on the desktop. Answer yes, then simply cut the shortcut from the desktop and paste in the Communications folder. Rename the shortcut "Remote Desktop Connection". You also may need to be an
administrator to do this...
