How to function daemon Tools as a Virtual CD Burner?
I know Daemon Tools allows to mount an ISO image as a virtual CDROM, and I use it all the time. I wanted to ask whether there is an application that allows daemon tools to function as a virtual CD burner?
Although,I know how to make ISO images using mkisofs, but I want something that actually shows up as a drive letter like Daemon Tools.
Re: How to function daemon Tools as a Virtual CD Burner?
I think Virtual CD is better than daemon tools.
Virtual CD is compatible with Windows Vista.
Also,Virtual CD has been expanded by the addition of many new features and improvements:
- Innovative Snapshot function
- Smart Virtual CD drives now compatible with USB flash drives
- Unlimited number of virtual burners
- Incremental additions to images
- Improved readout algorithms
- Job execution for automated creation of images
and much more!

I am assuming Alcohol has the same feature as Nero, that is allowing you to use a Virtual Drive for creating an ISO but it doesn't actually show up in Explorer as a 'drive'.
However, Daemon Tools shows up as a 'drive' but doesn't create ISOs images...I am not sure if there is an ISO program that will show up as a drive

Mounting ISO images in a virtual CD-ROM drive
To install software from ISO images, there were two possibilies:
- Burning the ISO images to a CD-ROM
- Using a virtual CD-ROM drive that can mount ISO images.
Apparently, Microsoft has an unsupported "Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel for Windows XP". The reason why it's unsupported became clear after downloading the product. It contains no setup (only instructions) and the interface is quite basic. But the software did its job very well.
