Setting up OpenLDAP on Debian
Hello everyone,
I hope not having the wrong section.
I have not found a solution to my problem. Let me explain, I work under VirtualBox on debian etch (testing machines), and I want to establish openLDAP so far everything is fine, no problem with the installation.
But (there is always a "but" ^ ^) when I want to configure is the cat, in fact I am one of many tutorials so I configure my slapd.conf. I tested with the command line:
slaptest-f / etc / ldap / slapd.conf
I said: config file testing succeeded
However, when I want to do: splapindex I have the right to a nice:
WARNING!
Runnig as root!
There's a fair chance slapd will fail to start.
Check file permissions!
please help me to solve it...
Thank you in advance for your answers and soon.

Apparently should check the rights on the file to ldap conf. Or update.

if it can help
and I remember how hard it is to openladap under debian
Re: Setting up OpenLDAP on Debian
as in bug report:
chgrp openldap slapd.conf
chmod g + w slapd.conf
then launched the retention of bouzin
Apparently what happens is that they have patched openldap to drop root privileges and runs as user openldap is good, but the slapd.conf file is readable by root ... damage
