Computer stuck on Logging Off screen in windows vista

Hi friends,

I have new laptop running Vista. When i tried logging off, it has been stuck on the Logging Off screen. can anyone please help me?

When you just pressed the power button you put it in a StandBy State, that's why the Log Off didn't disappear. Keep the power button pressed for more than 5 Seconds to force a shut down. It might work.

I suspect that the Sleep or Hibernate file on the hard drive is corrupted and is causing these issues. I would recommend updating your video drivers to the latest WHQL certified version available from the manufacturer of your video chipset.

I had the same problem in past. Try holding down the power button until the light in it goes out (a minute or two is usually required).
Remove the battery and the power cord and let it sit for a while. Then hold the power button down for about 30 seconds (everything unplugged and out).
Then put the battery back in, plug in the power cord and try to start up.
Restart in safe mode and use the system restore utility. It will work fine.:biggrin:
