Follow these steps:
- Select "Start"
- Choose "Run."
- Type "dxdiag" in the box and click "OK."
- Click "Yes" to the prompt, and the program will begin running.
- When the dialog box appears, you'll see the "DirectX Diagnostic
- Tool." Go ahead and click on the tab that is called "Display" or maybe
- "Display 1" etc.
- On the right-hand side of this tab, you should see a field labeled
- "Drivers." Under the line called "Main Drivers" you'll see a date. We
- usually recommend that this date be no more than six months old.
- Regardless, hopefully it reflects your latest download. If not, please
- try downloading your graphics card drivers again.

Clear the Google Earth cache on your Machine by following instructions
listed at
http://earth.google.com/support/bin/...n&answer=77769
Try deleting the following "Plist" files again although you've done
it previously:
~/Library/Preferences/com.Google.GECommonSettings.plist &
com.Google.GoogleEarthPlus.plist
Restart Google Earth Pro and confirm if the above steps resolve your
situation. Then, turn off atmosphere via "View" > "Atmosphere" as well
as the terrain via “Layers” > “Terrain” to see if that makes any
difference.
If your problem continues to persist, we’ll have to investigate your
issue further specific to your Machine configuration. You may want to post
back the graphics card information along with hardware overview of
your Machine configuration and other requested information via steps
provided below.
Graphics card information: "Apple" > "About this Machine" > "More
Info" > "System Profiler" > "Hardware" section of "Contents" >
"Graphics/Displays"
2] Hardware overview: "Apple" > "About this Machine." > "More Info" >
"Hardware"
This information may provide the Group further insight into your
issue. If you want to download and test it with Google Earth previous
version 4.2, you can do so under "previous version" located toward the
bottom of this page at http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html#no_redirect
Re: Google Earth Freezes Down My Operating System
try closing down any memory intensive programs beforehand, even things like MSN have been known by me to completely devour my memory when using memory intensive things, like C&C World Builder, that devastates my system if i run it with anything else going.
Re: Google Earth Freezes Down My Operating System
The answer most recommended is the anti-virus program ( CA) is causing the problem. My anti-virus from road runner was causing the same problem. As I have other anti-virus installed, I took that one out and the Google Earth is working fine again. Also they suggested putting the anti-virus on hold till you get the google up and working then activating it again.
