Compatibility of Linux games
Hello!
For several years, I use Windows 2000 and now I am reluctant to switch to Linux.
What holds me back is the fear of not being able to use certain programs.
I'm not much information but I am sure that I get a word processor, spreadsheet, all these kinds of utilities.
I play a lot to Civilization IV, and I wonder if it will work even on Linux.
Also, I'm playing much to the Sims 2 and Spore, I would like to know if they will work on Linux too.
Finally, I would like to know if there is a software download (like eMule), if it is still possible to play movies (format. Avi usually) and music (. Mp3)
and one last thing, I often download old games on the Internet (The Lion King, EJim2, LucasArt Collection) and if they work too.
I hope you can help me.
thank you in advance
Re: Compatibility of Linux games
nothing to switch to linux 100%, you can make a dual boot windows / linux and windows used to play. but some games can be installed on windows linux thanks to wine
for downloading yes there are software amule (emule equivalent) for the torrents: Azureus, deluge, ktorrent, transmission and so on ...
of course you can play movies. avi and. mp3 and other formats
for old games I do not know, we should try with wine
Re: Compatibility of Linux games
Well, I'm going down to install Linux, and I see what's working or not. I think I would keep window for a few games.
thank you for the answer.
And one final question: where do I download Linux? And once installed, is there any software on the internet to go with?
Re: Compatibility of Linux games
It has already answered your questions, let me just add: I have never been able to use Wine. So I kept a dual boot XP to play my favorite games, and also that my son can play with its CD-ROM (although he preferred the Playstation ! ).
I should just send me when I turn on the PC, to descend on Windows XP, otherwise I start on Ubuntu!
What distribution did you choose?
