iPOD mini stopped working Hi everyone, My cousin has a 6gb ipod mini. Few days back she plugged it into a cheap car charger and it flickered from the apple logo to the charge logo after 20 minutes she went to disconnect it and it was scorching hot. Do you think that the logic board along with the battery had died down. Help Out!!!!! |
Re: iPOD mini stopped working It's a great damage done the heating of he iPod must be due to battery. If you plan to disassemble it to replace the battery, then disassemble before you buy a battery, disconnect the faulty one and then plug it in and see what happens. This can tell you whether the board is OK or not. |
Re: iPOD mini stopped working The iPod generally uses a lithium battery, lithium batteries have heat cells between each one or two lithium cells. They heat up to around 80 to 114*F for the battery unit to work. Something made the heat plate short circuit so it had a constant 12 volt instead of 5 volts. Also the extra voltage probably damaged the equipment completely. Currently you can replace it if under warranty or take it apart and remove the battery and then try the charger or USB cable and see if it turns on. |
