Change Activation Key Windows Server 2008 Enterprise for Standard
Hello,
We have a test Windows 2008 Server Enterprise, the server was activated but
now we buy Windows 2008 Server Standard.
Can I change the activation key without problem?
The idea isn't reinstall the server, because the critical application is
running now.
Thanks for your help.

Martha
If I understand you correctly you now have a Windows 2008 Enterprise Trial installed
with the activation key that was supplied with that Trial.
Now you want to change that activation key with the new key that you got with the
purchase of the Windows 2008 Standard version without disturbing the present Trial
install .
No . You cannot do that. You will need to uninstall the Trial of Windows 2008
Enterprise and then install the newly purchased Windows 2008 Standard Edition and
use the new key to activate your new install

Hello MarthaRoca,
Basically you try to downgrade the Enterprise to standard edition which is
not possible. You have to reinstall.
