IDT high definition audio codec problem
Ok.. So I'm a complete dumbdumb with computers and recently my computer had a major crashed due to a registry key missing. I got a technician to fix it, but to save my files he had to reinstall windows and he did warn me that some devices may not work. Now everything seemed like I had when I first got my laptop, but my audio device (IDT High Definition audio codec) is not working and says: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
The troubleshoot gives me nothing so I tried putting in my Dell Drivers and Utility disk but that doesn't update the driver either. Rolling it back doesn't work either.. Can you give any advice to get it working?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1501, with Windows XP if that helps, not sure about all those fine details reqs..
Thanks for any advice, I'm at my wits end.

If you have a recent Dell desktop, you can try R173209.exe from Dell:

Re: IDT high definition audio codec problem
Try to download the fresh copy for your sound card. can you tell us what is exact model name of your sound card. (Not DT high definition audio codec, eg. ECS 945GCT-M2 (V1.0) IDT High Definition Audio Driver 0.40 )
Re: IDT high definition audio codec problem
Sorry, as I said I'm a compltely dumby. Where do I find this? I've looked on the device manager and it says:
Driver Provider: IDT
Driver Date: 05/09/2007
Driver Version: 5.10.5607.0
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
Theres something else, looking on the device manager there is also another faulty operation SM Bus Controller.
Would that effect my audio thing?
Thanks again.
