JoinTech JL7200 Gets Wi-Fi

Jointech will be announcing the successor to its JL7100, the aptly named JL7200, at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition). Based on documents released, the JL7200 will have similar features as the JL7100 (see previous post here) but in addition, it will have WiFi, making it a full-fledged netbook. How does parting with $125 sound to you, considering you get the following?
  • 7" LCD display
  • 400MHz processor
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • 64MB RAM
  • 64MB storage space
  • SD memory card slot

Just realized the $125 price point is meant for those who purchase at least 1,000 units - so expect standalone devices to cost considerably more when they hit retailers.

In addition, Jointech will also launch its JE100 ebook reader, as shown in the photo above.

Now it looks like JoinTech is trying again, this time with the JL7200 which looks a lot like the JL7100. But the new machine will have WiFi and will sell for a whopping $25 more. So for $125, you can get a tiny clamshell machine with a 7 inch display, a 400MHz CPU, and WiFi. It?s not clear how much storage space you?ll get, but the JL7100 had just 64MB of RAM and 64MB for storage. That?s sufficient for Windows CE to run, but you?ll want to invest in an SD card if you want to store some files on the system.
