GGSIP University ventures into Distance Education
Adding another feather to its cap, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has now ventured into Distance Education. The University is soon going to offer a Bachelor of Computer Applications – Industry Specific (BCA-IS) programme, under the aegis of its Directorate of Open & Distance Education, in collaboration with Computer Society of India.
The three year BCA-IS programme will be divided into six semesters and will offer a facility to specialize in emerging areas like Telecommunications, Life Sciences, Banking and Retail, Software Engineering, IT Enabled Services BPO/ KPO and Embedded Technologies. The BCA-IS programme will also provide an option to exit at the end of 2nd semester and 4th semester with a Certificate and Diploma respectively.
The course will be imparted through the Authorized Study Centres (ASCs) of GGSIPU in Delhi, Aligarh, Agra, Ahemdabad, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Indore, Jagdalpur, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Noida and Patiala. Self-learning manuals of all the course modules shall be sent to the students in the form of Computer Based Training (CBT) on CDs along with instructions booklets. In addition to CDs, web based Virtual Labs will also be made online. Online technical support shall moreover, be provided to the students in order to remove their doubts. The programme will moreover, involve two Personal Contact Programmes of one week duration, in each semester, both for Lab based and Theory subjects.
