Virtual Machine unable to Ping 2nd Nic on Host
Thanks ahead of time for any help!
In short I have a host running VMware Server.
Our PDC runs as a VM on this Host.
The PDC accesses the network via a bridged connection to the host.
The problem that I have is that the PDC cannot reach the hosts 2nd NIC
- even if I add a static route.
Server 1 - Physical - TPG20 - 192.168.7.20
Server 2 - Physical - TPG10 - 192.168.7.10 | 192.168.5.10 <---
HOST
Server 3 - Virtual - PDC - 192.168.5.105
The PDC (.5.105) is bridged to the host at (.5.10)
It can ping the host at .5.10
But if I add a static route to .7.10 it cannot get a response from .
7.10
(Route add 192.168.7.10 192.168.5.10)
On the other hand I can get a Server 1 to reach the other nic of the
host.
Server 1 (.7.20) can ping .7.10. And after I add the static route it
can ping .5.10
(Route add 192.168.5.10 192.168.7.10)
That tells me that the host is able to pass traffic from its .7 subnet
to its .5 subnet.
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can get the PDC to reach that
2nd NIC on the host?
I have posted a diagram of this here

Again, thanks ahead of time for any help.

Are you using a 24-bit subnet (ie 255.255.255.0) ? If you are, then the
machines are not in the same IP subnet. You can only bridge networks if they
are in the same IP subnet. If they are in different IP subnets you need an
IP router, not a bridge.
