unexplained loss of hard drive space on disk
I am already having 2 desktops at my home running with Vista and XP respectively where I use to do my all work. Apart from these, I bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop about a month ago that came with Windows Vista as well, and I use this laptop only reading emails and few other INTERNET work, nothing else., No downloading, no gamin, no movies, nothing.
But don’t know how and for reason, in this 1 month I noticed my hard disk space is dropped by almost 6 GB. I don’t even install any program on this. As a workaround, I deleted internet files, run disk defragmentation but still the space is same. Any idea where those disk space going itself ? Also why is it not coming back after cleaning the disk ?
Re: unexplained loss of hard drive space on disk
Did you tried making any System Restore point ? FYI, System Restore reserves 15% of your disk. Also any times when you make some major changes on your system, a restore point is created automatically. Even that can consume the space.
See if that is not the case of your problem.
Re: unexplained loss of hard drive space on disk
Yeah, that’s correct. System restore points take pretty food amount of space. If there are many of them and you don’t need all, you can just leave the latest one and rest of all to free up the space. You can do this by going to Start > All programs > Accessories > Disk Cleanup. Under disk cleanup click on More options. Here you will get the same.
