Mobile Phone Selection Help - Nokia 6600 or Nokia 6230

Hey guys..help me out...one of my close friends has Rs.16000 of "papa ka pyaar" to spare on a new mobile...he asked me n i recommended him 6600 or the 6230...but now i myself am confused...reasons r obvious...
The 6600 has a gr8 screen..the 6230 doesnt...
The 6230 has stereo mp3 support..the 6600 doesnt..
the 6600 luks classy n exclusive...the 6230 luks plain,bland n uninteresting...
the 6230 has fm reception... the 6600 doesnt...

If i have not already confused u...will u please help me out??

concidering that u want to chose between 6600 or 6230...

The 6230 has stereo mp3 support..the 6600 doesnt..

man, see 6600 doesnt have mp3 support but we can get softwares with which we can play mp3's.

6600 is better than 6230 as :
1. larger screen
2. it supports symbian os 7.o
3. resolution is more
4. five way joystick
5. "most largest selling smart phone in world " -- NOKIA and so it is a sucessful model with no problem.
6600 costs 15k in chennai.


6230 is better than 6600 as :
1. large memory (9.5mb against 6mb)
2. more talk time and standby time
3. mp3 playback (it is a lame excuse, 6600 can also made to play with softwares)
4. fm radio (becoz, it is not a symbian phone, no symbian phone has fm radio except 7250i(symbian 40 series)
6230 costs 13.5k in chennai.

seeing this clearly 6600 is better, only a marginal price difference btw them...., (dont take mp3 and fm radio {costs 40rs.} as a excuse!).
and moreover 6230 is not a symbian phone, and so u cant install any games (remember, that IR remote control for ur TV, DVD, audio sys ?)

go for 6600

and if u want to chose away from these two go for 6260!
it has:
1.mp3 playback as ring tones!
2. it is a clamshell type!!
3. has fm radio!!!
4. video/ voice recording !!!!
5. costs only 18.35k in chennai (17k in alpha in mumbai)

so go for 6600 or if u can afford a few more bucks go for 6260!
6260 is fully loaded!

by the way 6230 has 11.5 mb internal mem and not 9.5 mb
morever u can use sis software like "ultra mp3" to play mp3's on 6600 but the quality will be awful..that too in mono.. unlike the stereo sound of 6230......


so it depends on urself... 6600 is more of a phone fr techies... 6230 is fr normal people....although I prefer the latter....

6260 in the aspect that the OS is much faster then 6600. also nokia has included Stereo FM and mono mp3 support.... but seeing the fact the the phone is so big and the keys are so akward I will prefer 6600 over the 6260...

anyway in BLR 6260 is 16k with bill and 2 yrs warranty...

If u want purely entertainment then definetly 6230 is worthy buy...
If u want Symbian OS(PDA func and Browsing using Opera) than 6600..But keep in mind Very Slow OS..

6230 is BEST..

and i forgot to mention EDGe in 6230, and again u wont find (atleast as of now) any use of it.

HUTCH already started in that way...Now Airtel also started in Coimbatore,chennai...soon all over india..

it is a marketing gimmick only..., it is
NOT A STREMMING VIDEO.

we need to download it (the clips) and then view it.
airtel offers live straming video in some of the circles.

Hi,
Forget both the 6600 and 6230, I have both and am now going to get the 6630 which has to be the best nokia phone feature wise if you can digest the looks. 26000 at Nokia Priority dealers but it has stereo, which makes a fantastic difference and edge which will with airtel and orange.

strange because in my 6230 there is 10.3 mb for gallery and around 2.5 mb fr java apps...
so that does make around 12.8 mb of internal mem and not 11.5


as of edge, in karnataka both airtel and hutch have edge enabled networks and the difference in speeds is distinctive between 6230 and any other normal gprs phone..... also here airtel does offer live streaming....

i think i shud hav added a poll...becos still it aint clear ... almost equal people voted for the 6600 as well as the 6230..
can a symbian os be installed on a 6230?? is the symbian better or the one 6230 has?(btw wot is the os on 6230 called? )

no way, it can't be installed....

man, if u need to instALL SOFTWARES and stuffs, u will need a symbian phone....

in case of 6230, it is called nokia suite (or OS) .


and between, did u check out 6260?

yeah grudge..we did check out the 6260..but to tell the truth,we didnt really like the layout...its way too large when it opens up...n one more thing is the wear n tear the clamshell design has to suffer....more often than not,we hear about displays gone wrong...loose connections etc(u c..we r students!!)... but i agree tht the featre set of tht cell is quiet impressive...
One more cell tht i particularly liked is the 6670...its got tht classy 7610 luk..n doesnt disappoint on the feature front either...but its out of our budget...20k

Now i guess after hearing all this....(damn the nokia 6230 Os cannot be upgraded..) i can safely suggest him to go for 6600...moreover the mp3 s/w upgrade can be taken care of...as for fm reception...i'll gift him an fm radio on his bday!!
