Hi guys yesterday I got a popup says update from Maemo for 6.60 MB do any of you guys know what the new update was about and what changes does that update does except the desktop icon which changes I have noticed that and any other important update apart from the icons if yes I can make necessary changes

The Maemo development has been completely stopped for over 2-3 years now and nokia company is now working in Meego development and its update. So, what i think is that you havent updated your Nokia N900 till now and have been running it on a previous firmware version, which is why you are getting notification to update it. Either ways, you can also try to update to the latest firmware by connecting your mobile phone to the pc and then updating it via the Nokia Updater software.

I usually connect the mob to pc and check for updates, but this was from CSSU I think that's why am not sure what update was that.

Well, this seems that there is a modified version of the firmware released for Nokia N900 by a team called Community Seamless Software Update, because the company itself have stopped updating the Maemo operating system. You could try to update it on your phone, but remember that since its a tweaked version of the OS, you may face issues with difference applications installed on your mobile phone.
