Upgrading HT1338 to Mountain Lion 10.8

Guys I am running in to a bad situation here, actually I had bought a MacBook Pro running on OS X 10.6.8 last year in June and I had got an e-mail from apple along with the redemption code for downloading Mountain Lion 10.8 for free recently. Unfortunately I have deleted that mail mistakenly, so I just wanted to know if there is a way by which I can still get Mountain Lion 10.8 for free?

If it is just about the redemption code then you can better try contacting apple support addressing them your issue and check what they have to say about it. I am not sure but I think they will help you out if you are qualifying the requirement of Lion 10.8, best of luck.

I don’t think so, As far as I am aware the free upgrade was time limited and you had 30 day time period for claiming free upgrade with your redemption code. Now the time has gone and I don’t think there is anyway by which you will be able to get It for free anymore. You will probably have to purchase it separately or wait for the day Lion 10.8 will get released.

This is what I have found regarding Mountain Lion 10.8:

Qualifying Mac purchsed from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 6, 2011 can get Mac OS X Lion Up-To-Date upgrade for free from Mac App Store, if the user request for the upgrade within 30 days of purchase of his/her Mac.

Where as a qualifying Mac purchased between June 6, 2011 and the day Lion was available in the Mac App Store can make a request within 30 days after Mountain Lion 10.8 is officially released.

So you have lost the first criteria but you can still request to get Up-To-Date upgrade for free after Lion 10.8 is officially released. I am not sure if you need the same redemption code for requesting as well but you can clarify that with apple support.

Even I don’t think you will be able to get it for free anymore, there is no point of contacting apple for the redemption code as they won’t send you again. Anyways as mentioned above you are still having a chance for requesting Lion 10.8 within 30 days after it is released but I don’t think that’s for getting it free. You will surely have to pay for it.
