Itunes is still downloading IOS 5.1.1 instead of IOS 6

Hi. I am an iPad 3 user. Recently saw many news regarding iOS 6 launch. They say that iOS 6 is now launched with many new features for all iOS devices including iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. So i decided to update my iPad as well to the new release. i connected it with iTunes to check the upgrade but i found iTunes still showing me iOS 5.1.1 instead of iOS 6.

Whats the problem ? is it not for iPad 3 ? please help.

Well friend, i think you dint read the news properly. iOS 6 is launched but only for Developers for testing purpose. And not for the end users like you or me. Developers can get the iOS 6 to make apps compatible with this launch and will report apple about everything (if there is kind of bug or so). Once it is done, Apple will launch the iOS 6 publicly for iphone, ipad and ipod users. But this will take some time, lets say for more 3 to 4 months.

Even i faced this with my iPhone 4S with itunes as well as OTA update. After searching workaround for the same i came to know that its yet not released for us. They have launched it for just Developers. We (users) will be able to get hands on iOS 6 probably till December 2012.
