IPod cannot be synced, the required disc cannot be found

    Hi,

I have the latest iTunes and the new firmware have caused nothing but problems for me. I downloaded itunes, registered the iPod Touch, I tried to sync my music to the iPod Touch but I kept receiving the error message "Ipod Touch cannot be synced. The Required disk cannot be found". Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried reformat the ipod and re-sync ?? This may also be caused by software applications which change the appearance of Windows XP. Try deleting or removing any third-party Windows OS skins, Windows themes, or desktop mods that are installed to resolve the iTunes Error issue when syncing your iPod to Windows XP. In my case, re-building the permission on my mac drive solved it: Go to
    - Application->Utilities->Disk Utility
    - select the Macintosh HD
    - click "repair disk permissions"

To remove error, IPod cannot be synced, the required disc cannot be found, you need to configure your iPod for disk use. There is a box to check on the iTunes page on the iPod. It is just below the renovation / restoration of menu items. You have a few seconds to press after the cancellation of the upgrade, and before its unmounts iPod. This means there is something wrong with the partition of the iPod due to data corruption. I suggest you do an analysis of your iPod to problems.

For those with the error Could not find required disk:

First reviewed the cable and connections.
Try to synchronize your iPod connected to another USB port, especially among those who are located in the back of the computer. If that fails try the following:

    1. Disconnect the iPod from the computer and close iTunes

    2. Select the following 10 lines of text that begin with regsvr32, then select Copy from the Edit menu in your Web browser.

    regsvr32 / s softpub.dll
    regsvr32 / s wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 / s dssenh.dll
    regsvr32 / s rsaenh.dll
    regsvr32 / s gpkcsp.dll
    regsvr32 / s sccbase.dll
    regsvr32 / s slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 / s mssip32.dll
    regsvr32 / s cryptdlg.dll
    regsvr32 / s initpki.dll
    Open Notepad:
    Start> All Programs -> Accessories> Notepad

    3. In Notepad, choose Paste from the Edit menu. Note: Make sure that the text that appears in Notepad is the same as above.

    4. On the File menu, choose Save As

    5. In the File name field write appleipod.bat and save the file on the Desktop

    6. Close Notepad and locate the file appleipod.bat. It should be on the desktop with the icon.

    7. Double-click the file and you should see appear a black window for about a minute. Wait until the window disappears and follow the next step.

    8. The file can be deleted and appleipod.bat

    9. Open iTunes and connect iPod.

    10. When the iPod appears in iTunes, restore and then re-synchronize the contents.

Note: Some malware may unregister. Dll files, make sure you have the latest updates for your antivirus and then a complete scan of your files.

Re: IPod cannot be synced, the required disc cannot be found

As above, I just want to say thanks to Zenon for this fix. On my windows XP I had to change the code slightly to be:
    regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
    regsvr32 /s wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 /s dssenh.dll
    regsvr32 /s rsaenh.dll
    regsvr32 /s gpkcsp.dll
    regsvr32 /s sccbase.dll
    regsvr32 /s slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
    regsvr32 /s cryptdlg.dll
    regsvr32 /s initpki.dll

It has been bugging me for ages why my 80gig iPod Classic would not sync but my daughters iPod Touch would work fine
I have attached my appleipod.bat file as described above so it can be downloaded and used by others

Thank you! Apple support had no solution. I googled the error message -- and found your code. After hours of frustration and fear that I would lose my iTunes library -- success!
