How to retain favorites after updating a map in my tomtom.

See I have a tomtom and I am using it for the navigation to. It found out to be very help full. But the problem is that the previously stored data i.e. my favorites and my home location are losed. Kindly provide a solution for this problem. ?

See try to maintain an backup on your pc for these you can restore the file by going to the add by connecting device then select mytomtom icon then ‘add community content ’ then copy the file in your pc. You can restore it by going to the ‘add community content’ then add it. While giving the device to the shop just see to that the privacy by restoring the device to factory setting.

for retaining any favorites first you have to save it.These are the steps how to save favorites in the system.
1) first copy favorites in your System and see that you have the latest version of the TOMTOM in your system.
2) secondly see that the navigation system you are using has the latest application Mytomtom installed in it.
3) to your system attach the navigation device.
4) then go to Taskbar then click on MyTOMTOM icon.
5) there you will get an option for add community content. click on that
6) then a browser window will open.
7) there will be an Favorites.ov2. and next to that there will be option 'copy to computer', select that.
8) a 'save to' dialogue box will appear there you can select the location for the favorites.
9) then select confirm.
these is the way to save the favorites in your system.

See if you are using the computer try the windows explorer otherwise use the finder if you have mac but these presumes if you have the backup. If you consist of the backup then try to connect the unit to the computer then preceding to the backup location there you will see the file called mapseting.cfg then on unit copy the specific map folder actually overwrite the existing one.

I know a way to restore the favorites from the PC.
1. navigation device need to be connected to the PC
2. then there will be MyTOMTOM icon on the taskbar, select it.
3. there you will find an option for add community content, click that.
4. a browser window will open there click browse.
5. a dialogue box will appear click it. then select Favorites.ov2 file inside Mycomputer and open.
6. at the end select install.
