How to retain favorites after updating tomtom.

I have using Tomtom from two months. One day I decided to just updated my map then started to update. After update I saw that I loosed my all favorites and my home location. So can anyone tell me how do I overcome this problem?

I have read all the content you have discussed and I came to know what your problem is? For that I would suggest you that please copy of the entire backup map settings .cfg from previous map folder to new map folder and restore them. If you are not able to understand this I will tell you in steps just follow it.
• In your pc, use window explorer and on the mac, user finder.
• If you need a back of your file so I would suggest you that please connect your device to computer.
• After that proceed for the backup location on your computer. Got to specific map folder and try to find out mapsetting.cfg file into that.
• Just copy that folder into your unit, then you will see that unit will be looks like or represented by driver letter for an external drive on your pc then it will resume similar to mac.

I completely satisfied with the above content and fully agree with that or you can follow these steps also.
I would suggest you that create a custom POI category on the device and rename it “Favorites”.
And puts the favorite’s category at the top of the list and once the category created then simply add your favorites in that. If you have already loaded the favorites then it is possible to open the map setting file .cfg by using software POIEdit after that please save into ov2 format.
1)This will create custom POIfile format which is used for device.
2)There is big points using custom POI option instead of favorites.
3)You can do unlimited entries.
4)You can save the phone number in each location.
5)It is easy to transfer between different Tomtom products.
