Perform the hardware checks. Make sure that the laptop has enough battery life to boot. Charge your laptop with its AC adapter and then try to restart the laptop again. If nothing happens, plug the adapter into another outlet. If this does not help, then check whether external drives (flash drive, external hard disk, etc.) in one of the USB ports are connected. Pull it out of the laptop and press the laptop power button.

Make sure that the hard drive is not disabled in the boot sequence in BIOS. Otherwise, the laptop will not fully boot the operating system. Restart the laptop and press a button that will take you to the BIOS page. Put your hard drive as a "first boot priority," or first in the "boot sequence." Note that the steps to load the BIOS and the BIOS during the navigation pages of the brand of BIOS is installed depends on your laptop.

If your laptop fails to start normally suddenly more, perform a hard reset. The hard reset will correct many problems. If the laptop still does not start correctly, select the problem from the list below to find the recommended solutions. Disconnect all external devices and remove all USB devices and multimedia cards. This is the laptop you want to test, not accessories. Unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery, then press the On / Off button and hold for at least 15 seconds to empty the residual electricity and restore the default boot parameters. Reconnect the power adapter (without reconnecting the battery), press the on / off, see if the lights are on Caps Lock key next Numlock. And possibly listen to the sound emitted by the fan or other components.

If the connections are located inside the laptop are not supplied with electricity, the lights will not light up, fans will not make noise and the laptop cannot start. You can perform several operations to verify that the laptop is powered. AC adapter or power cord defective, damaged or dead battery, bad connection at the laptop or failure of a component on the motherboard of the laptop.

Remove the battery and boot the laptop on AC power only. The presence of a defective battery or AC adapter may prevent supply enough electricity to start the laptop. To verify that the laptop is powered by the AC adapter: remove the battery, connect the AC adapter and press the On / Off button. If possible, try using a different AC adapter (also compatible with the laptop), and repeat this test.

A black screen with no error message usually indicates a problem of basic functionality at a fundamental component. You can try several solutions before you contact Fujitsu to obtain technical assistance to solve the problem. A hardware component, such as a memory module or hard disk bootable, has been improperly installed or disconnected to the laptop.

Re: Fujitsu LIFEBOOK AH531 won’t start

If the laptop seems to be trying to start but then it stops responding, it is possible that an internal connection is not done well. Bad connections often occur when a hardware component, such as a memory module, a disk or a bootable hard drive is not properly installed or is not compatible with the laptop. If you recently installed or replaced components, such as additional memory or a larger capacity disk, follow these steps: Remove and reconnect any parts recently replaced to ensure that the connections are good. Remove any new component and reinstall the original components. Install the new components one by one to determine whether one of them is defective. If you have multiple memory modules, remove them and install a module in a memory slot and try to restart the laptop. If the laptop does not start, move the memory module in another slot and try again. Repeat this action and test the memory module into each slot of the laptop.
