Cannot open DVD drive in Toshiba Satellite L305-S5907

I am having the Toshiba Satellite L305-S5907 laptop and I have installed the Windows 7 on it. Problem is that after installing the Windows 7, the DVD drive of this is not getting opened. There is just one workaround that I found about this and that is to open turn it off and take off the battery, reinsert that and that again start functioning. But after restarting the system, it again shows me problem. Can you guess that what can be the issue with this and how that can be solved?

You can try by uninstalling the drive or IDe channel. You can do this from the device manager. Once you are done with the un-installation of drive then you will just have to restart the laptop and see if it solves the issue or not.

I don’t know whether you like this or not but you can make use of a paper clip to open it. If you see the drive then you will find that there is a small hope on that. All you have to do is, just use one paper click and insert that in that hole. As you do that then you will find that the drive will come out automatically. I think that this is better than removing the battery and all that you are doing currently.

There is one simple thing that you can try to do. Just open my computer and right click on the DVD drive. When you do that then it will show you one of the options as “eject”. Just click on that option. After clicking on that, drive will come out and you can insert the CD’s into that. If it is not coming out in this way then there is some problem with hardware or software.

There might be something wrong with the jumper settings of the drive. Just check that, if jumper is properly inserted in the drive or not. Remove the jumper and again insert that in the drive. See if it can help you in some way.
