Installing ipod update 5.0.1 deleted Backup

My ipod prompted to install the update 5.0.1. Before doing that, I decided to take the backup and so I did the same and did the update. But after the update, I found that there is just log for that backup but not the actual backup file. I am in trouble now and expecting some help from you people. If you have some solution for this then please let me know that.

I think that once the update is finished then the iTunes goes ahead and it backed up your iPod again and because of this, it overwrites the previous backup. This is the only reason seem to me now. Lets see if someone else can post with some other possibility.

Just go through the steps below for this:
    1. Open the iTunes preferences:
      • Windows: go to Edit> Preferences.
      • Mac: go to iTunes> Preferences.
    2. Click the Tools icon at the top.
    3. Choose the device you want to delete the backups.
    4. Click Delete Backup (Mac) or Delete Backup (Windows).
    5. Confirm that you want to delete the backup.
    6. Remove any other backup and close the screen.
