    HTC wildfire keep using GPRS

One month back I had bought HTC wildfire. I have activated the GPRS pack for this phone. The problem is even if the phone is idle, usage going up. Don’t know why but I think some apps still using GPRS connection even when they are not running. There is no Email sync, browser is closed and none of the apps running in the background that required GPRS connection.

If you put the icon on the desktop with a simple touch of the screen you can turn off or turn on the traffic data.

Also, if you have WiFi enabled and connected, has precedence over 3G.

Android, as you well know, is an operating system that has the characteristic of being constantly connected to the network. Many applications, even when they are in the background, constantly working, and between e-mail, chat, social networking and updates, the risk of bad jokes to the remaining credit is still there.

If you want to disable the 3G or GPRS because you have a data rate then get APNdroid. It is a simple program with which you can extinguish all except GSM networks and vice versa. The best part is it's free. Its operation is very simple that there is only off or on, you must not touch anything else (and you cannot because it lacks any interface).

The NetCounter very accurately track the amount of data sent and received, divided into traffic 2G/3G and Wi-Fi. If you open the application, NetCounter will present a screen that tells you the traffic connection data used, divided in Cell and Wi-Fi. The counter, which is updated at regular intervals, will mark the number of megabytes consumed within 24 hours, 7 days in a month and in total (since the application was installed of course). You can also create your own custom counter

One of the features of Android phones (and also the most annoying if you will), is that some applications or processes of memory, enable or want access to the Internet to upload or download data. This is also the first time you buy an Android phone (like it happened to myself a HTC Magic). The real problem is usually that the connection is not unlimited, but few people have paid as a flat or connection plan already activated and then you consume much money unnecessarily.

You have 2 options to control GPRS data usage.
    • Use APNdroid: For those who prefer to use a widget, the application is available on the market APNdroid, changing the name of the appointing authority and the type of appointing authority, by adding the suffix "APNdroid".
    • Use Quick Settings; Quick Setting is a free application that allows you to manage your phone settings, and one of its functions is to disable the data connection.

Google Android mobile devices where you have configured the Internet access is set by default to connect on 3G data network (UMTS) or GPRS according to the cable company to which they belong. Of course it may be a risk to programs that require the automatic connection and thus losing all the credit without even realizing telephone in minutes!

To disable automatic data transmission, you can intervene in different ways and on the other way you can change the data access APN ( Access Point Name ) that vary depending on your telephone operator. This will block those programs that require a data connection to work in the background. It is a real disaster for the inexperienced or do not have a flat connection to the Internet that are likely to see Airborne their phone bills without realizing it.
