Will Factory unlocked iphone 4S work in India

I am thinking about buying factory unlocked iphone 4s from USA. I don’t wanna use that phone in USA but I wanna make it work In India. Does Indian network operators allow me to use this phone on GSM networks. Is there any problem if I use it here?

I think it's great that finally Apple has decided to sell factory unlocked phones. In my opinion the plan should be more customizable as each person has different needs. We must also note that in other countries to be with a contract and want to switch to a newer model, the existing user is billed twice for the change of phone.
