need to modify BIOS IN compaq TC1100

I have a HP/Compaq Tablet PC. The earlier version of bios was F.03 and the latest one is F.0F. the earlier version F.03 has a whitelist which prevent the pc from booting and unfortunately my pc has this version of bios. Now what I am doing is that I started modding the F.0F but the problem is that I am at the dead end. I really need to work on my TC110 BIOS. Is there anyone who can help me out in editing the whitelist?

I don’t have much idea about the bios settings and all but as per my knowledge I believe that modding is possible but for that you need an editor. If you have bios.wph in the version F.0F download just try to read it using a Phoenix BIOS Editor (you can get it easily, various versions are available) or else you can also search through the bios.wph file and read it using a hex.editor.

I tried to read it in Phoenix BIOS Editor but then I got an error message “Invalid ROM length” and later when I used hex.editor I didn’t find any "familiar" PCIID/Vendor combinations due to this I am unable to know whether the bios.wph is partially compressed or completely.

Try to find PCI vend/device codes in BIOSCOD1.ROM, once you are done with that you will definitely get the complete solution. You can later edit it with the Hex.editor after that for all the errors check the “Ignore all” check box to fix the invalid ROM length error.

A simple solution I got, use a USB floppy drive then hold down “esc” and “tab” hardware keys on boot other than using a keyboard combination. I successfully did it on my tablet TC1100. Right now my bios instead of supporting Intel wm3b2200bg it supports TP-LINK TL-WN 861 N wireless card and it is already has slic 2.1 table. Although TL-WN 861 N is supporting in my tablet but I won’t say that it’s the best card, I have to isolate it from motherboard because it’s too big.
