Powerbook G4-aluminum 17" OS Lost

I bought a used Powerbook G4 and there is no operating system on it, what OS do I need for this and where can I find it? I have tried to the Panther and Leapord and neither one will work, it sees the cd but it wont read it.. HELP.........

First make sure your Powerbook meet the minimum requirements for Snow Leopard that is Core2duo, 1 GB of RAM, 5 GB of free disk space. If its ok and as you said it can see the disk but cannot read it, there might be some problem with your dvd drive. because there is nothing like if OS is not compatible it will not read the drive. Check your disk and dvd drive.
