Acer Iconia Tab W500 tweaks

HI, I am having Acer Iconia Tab W500 and wanted somebody to give me some tweaks regarding the device so that I could use the whole potential of the device. any suggestion regarding the same will be appreciated.

I would like to recommended you that you should first try to remove all the Bloatware from the Add remove programs

I am agree with the above user but still along with that you should make some configuration for the MSConfig as well as mentioned below.

- Bluetooth software
- Bluetooth Software
- Global registration
- RunCMD
- Catalyst control center
- Acer video conference manager

Windows Update:

- Installed all critical updates
- Installed all the other updates apart from silverlight
- Installed all and any hardware updates
- Installed SP1 and Internet Explorer 9

i can provide you some tweaks through which you can improve the batter performance.

• Lower screen brightness.
  
  
• Turn off 4G, WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth when you don't need them.
  
  
• Disable WiFi and 4G network notifications.
  
  
• Turn off background data.
  
  
• Lower the screen timeout interval.
  
  
• Turn off auto-sync.
  
  
• Change auto-sync frequency (Weather, News, Stocks, Twitter, etc).
  
  
• Don't use a live wallpaper

The acer iconia W500 had no problem with my Transcend 64Gb SDXC card. but still Be warned that leaving an SD card in a machine consumes the battery even whilst off... or at least it did on my ENvy 13. It also played 720p youtube videos at a sensible speed, I would not say ideal but stuttered like hell with 1080p. The same 1080p Youtube video downloaded played without problem. Either way, I'm not really bothered with playing 1080p video on a 1280x800 screen.

But with regards to 1080p videos I opened the catalyst software and ensure that I set EVERYTHING I could configure to performance while plugged in, or else whilst on battery it's still set to better battery life and 1080p played just very well.

Hi HankH, I also using Transcend 64Gb sdxc card with my Acer Iconia W500 but I facing a problem when playing video files (avi & mp4) stored in the sdxc card. Actually, I can play the video in my Acer C Drive, but after I had copy & paste it in the sdxc card, it can't be opened. Although I try to copy it back from sdxc card to my C drive, It still can't be opened. I would like to know do you facing this kind of problem? Thank You.

To troubleshoot the issue I recommend that you should try with another SDxC card and see what do you getting. This will give a brief idea whether the issue is associated with the memory card or Tab itself.

Hi DaminiAMD, Thanks for your comment. I'll try to find another sdxc card to test it. Actually, I suspect it could be 2 reasons : 1)My Transcend 64gb sdxc is a fake card. 2)exfat file system (SDXC card) may not compatible with NTFS file system (Acer C drive). (Because while I put in my 2GB SD card (FAT file system) to my Iconia W500, all the files can be opened & played without any problem)
