In addition, this drive offers a large capacity for your laptop and unmatched performance in its class for fuel consumption.
    • Seagate Technology SmartAlign allows a smooth transition to the standard 4K (for better efficiency of the hard drive) and, without no software is required.
    • The function of autochiffrement encrypts data without loss of performance, thus protecting them where they are.

The key features of the drive are as follows:
    • Seagate Technology management of energy use on laptop, a hard drive 7200 rpm / min for low-energy laptops
    • Seagate Technology SmartAlign allows a smooth transition to the standard 4K, without no software is required.
    • Technology access ramp for the withdrawal of the head of the disk during idle periods for energy consumption at rest and reduced longevity of the hard disk revised upwards
    • Technology QuietStep ramp for loading / unloading extremely quiet
    • High-performance cache algorithms and error correction on the fly
    • Engine FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) for quiet operation
    • Support for SMART technology to monitor the status of the disk and the corresponding reporting

The new model brings with it well-750GB capacity, while the amount goes up to 8GB of NAND flash memory chips produced with SLC type. The promised benefits are the same as always: to unite in a single disc capacity in terms of the advantages of traditional disks, in conjunction with a performance boost provided by the SSD like behavior for reading data stored in the cache, or that provided by section NAND Flash .

The Seagate Momentus 7200.5 750 GB was one of the fastest 2.5-inch hard drives in the test. New records set on the Momentus model tested in practice with very large files: For writing, reading and copying a DVD movie (4.2 GB) required the Seagate drive only 42, 40 and 87 seconds. Not quite as fast as the Seagate Momentus 7200.5 was in transferring many small files. When reading and writing of 1000 MP3 files (5 GB) took the Seagate model or one and a half minutes.

It is curious indeed. At first glance, there is no logical reason to explain the loss of performance. It looks like a bad lottery, a lot of components that do not mix. Apart from trying with another hard drive, I have little idea ... Try to see what appears to constrain the system by looking in Activity Monitor.

The Seagate Momentus 750 GB is fully suitable for mobile computers. Seagate 2.5-inch hard-disk sets while in any programs and also offers no encryption, but you can download free software useful. With the Seagate SeaTools test the Momentus 7200.5 on surfaces and functional errors. The program DiscWizard partition and copy entire hard disks or create an image of your drive.

The new engine combines a hybrid of traditional storage 750GB dish and 8 GB flash-based storage (known as solid state storage) in a standard 2.5-inch internal drive. The new album is like a normal hard disk, and can be used as an equal. It comes with a built-in algorithm that automatically and independently of the operating system, moving frequently accessed data to the solid state. This results in a much better implementation and overall performance over time.

In my tests, the performance improvement can be seen from the second time you run an application, which is itself a great improvement over the first generation of the unit, which only has 4 GB of flash memory.

The second generation of hybrid hard drive Momentus XT is between us. The U.S. company has started distributing the new version, after a first generation of a good standard , designed to serve as a link between SSD and traditional hard drives. A hybrid hard drive is basically a product of dishes with both magnetic and flash memory. At the large data storage capacity of the hard drive adds the speed of Flash, used to manage files used with greater frequency. In this regard the company has revived the technologies and Fast Adaptive Memory Factor, further refined.
