ThumbsUp Weekend Project: ChinaPhone Firmware Editing!!

    Hello everyone!

Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

I have a new weekend project that I'm a little bit stuck on, i was wondering if anyone with more expertise/experience could help me!

I have got a older (junked but working) mobile phone which runs on a MTK Chipset (so i have learnt). My question is this, I was wondering if I could change the menu names and folders by 'flashing' it with an updated (or edited) firmware? Is this possible?

I have got a copy of MTK Flash (the firmware read/write software), and i belive i need a cable, but can it be done?

Mainly, i would just like to delete a few things, like the games and the FM radio software, and change the menu names around.

Thank you for your help in advance,

    Kay

I read somewhere that there is a MTKore software available which is a MTK Firmware Editor and is a client/server firmware editor product for China Phones based on the MTK CPUs. The Features include:

    Language Pack Editing/Translation
    Dictionary management
Resource editing (Icons, Images, Ringtones, etc...)
    Font editor
Support for NOR and NAND firmwares (6223,6225,6226,6228,6235,etc.)
    Easy to use
    Fast
    Professional
    Cheap

You can search for same on google and let us know the results.

Thank you for your reply Pugsly!

I have had a bit of a google around and have managed to find a copy of MTKore lite, which is an excellent start! The 'directory management' and 'resource editor' seem particularly interesting for my project.

I have been searching for the full version however it seems that the MTKore and PhiKore enterprise has closed down with is a great shame, the full bit of software from them was only $50USD. Which was very reasonable.

Do you know of any other good firmware editors for that kind of price and specification?

    Many thanks,

    KayWarner

There is a tool called MTK firmware editor for Infinity Box. I don't know that is works with all phones, but something worth to share here. I had also find some websites providing free downloads for MKLite, but those are mostly torrents or files sharing website. So surely that is not a official version. Check the image below which provides more detailed description on the same.
