Google says the update to Ice Cream Sandwich will be available in the short term for computers ship with Gingerbread, there is no specific date or specific information but is rumored to start arriving officially this year for multiple devices. But there is no news about rooting yet.

XDA have published a few days ago, the guide to install the latest version of Android, the 2.3.4, on our Nexus S (I9020 and I9023 Build GRI40 GRI54) but the procedure was a bit complicated and not all were able to successfully install. Precisely for this reason we have tried, and found, a more easy and comfortable to update our terminal!

Thanks to the guys at XDA usual, you can download a nice nandroid Backup 2.3.4 (GRj22) with root permissions enabled (you can then also use programs such as Titanium Backup Manager or Roma) that will allow us to move to a new version easier and faster!

Who upgraded to the official Android Nexus One of course has lost the rights to Root, if you want them back the guide is very simple. The first step is not compulsory but useful if you want to try in future firmware Cyanogen or other developers but remember that you can always go back to the standard version of the Nexus.

Until now I never talked about deliberately unlock the Nexus One (although it is my own), as this may invalidate your warranty.

As of today, however, you can have root permissions and unlock the Nexus without losing any warranty.

As I advance I was able to complete the verification of the guide for 'permits enabling root on Nexus without losing the warranty is not made because the unlock bootloader. The procedure allows you to have root permissions, i.e. the ability to install from the market and use our own terminal with applications that have special restrictions (ShootMe, for example, that requires root privileges to take snapshots of your device). A short guide to install a ROM modding (I use today that is truly exceptional Cyanogen 5.0.8) that add additional features and possibilities to our terminals.
