Which one is better between: M17xR2/R3 and M18x?

I have a dell Precision M6400 laptop. I like to play games on laptop. 6970m is strong with M17x. I have not had desktop since a while. I replace my laptops in every 2 to 3 years. I want to know about the two? I want to know that will a single 6970m enough for the future? Weight is a concerned for me as I travel a lot. I am eyeing on m18x but I am not sure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I want to know that what all types of games you play. As of my perceptions I think that 6970m (M17x-R3) is the best. Crossfire m18x is more future proof. As you have mentioned that weight and is a major concerned for you so I would suggest that then you should look in the DTR category.

I would suggest you to go for M17x R3. The dell Alienware M17x R3 is a top-level 17-inch gaming notebook. It has fantastic performance and unique design.

I think if you want to go for gaming and all then M17x R3 is best. It has an Intel HM67 chipset, this laptop contains Intel Core i7-2720QM quad-core processor with AMD Radeon HD 6970M w/ 2GB GDDR5 dedicated video memory. I think you should purchase this one.

I would personally go for the M18x laptop. It has metal everywhere instead of plastic. But as you say for carrying then it is really very bad. I think here you will have to make a compromise between gaming and weight. I would suggest you to go to the dell store and then you will be able to make the difference and you will be able to choose a better product.

I think that the m18x is only about 2-3 lbs heavier, and the 330watt brick is maybe around 5-1lb over the 240watt of the m17x r3. Unfortunately all are much heavier. No doubt that you can use a case but it would look more hassle. If you to have a good battery life for work, then I think you should get M17x if the 18x doesn't have switchable gpus. M18x looks much cooler than the m17xR3. M17xR3 lacks of one gpu. M18x have a good graphic performance

M18x has the awesome look shortcut key for gaming purpose. This feature is very important while playing some games. There is no much difference in the weight of m17xR3 andm18x.
