HP dv7 - Windows 7 - fingerprint sensor stopped working, forgot password!

My boyfriend has an HP Pavillion dv7 (laptop) with Windows 7 on it... and the finger print sensor has worked up until this point. Now all of the sudden, the sensor is blinking, and not recognizing his fingerprint. He doesn't remember his login password, so he can't even use his computer right now. Does anyone know how to bypass the password, or fix the fingerprint sensor?? Please help!!

Can you try to go to Start and from there go to Search for Recovery Manager and from there click on Software installer and choose Fingerprint Sensor Driver and then reinstall it and restart laptop and see if that bypasses the password, allowing you to login to the laptop without the password and after login set a new password.

Thanks for replying... But unfortunately, he can't even get signed into Windows to get to Start. He's stuck on the main password page to get signed into Windows.
