I can see that there are many of the different colors on the PlayStation 3. I cannot understand that what they mean. So I am leaving this over here. If someone of you over here can provide me some points about this then please let me know that.

If you are not able to get any of the lights on your PlayStation 3 then this will indicate that the power switch for the PlayStation 3 is off and that is at the back of the PS3. When main power switch is off then it will not be possible for you to make use of any of the features. If you wish to turn that on then en sure that the main power switch is on. If for any user, there is problem in switching on the PS3 then you should consider the following points first.
    • Ensure that the power cord is not frayed otherwise damaged
    • Try to utilize some other power cord.
    • Confirm that main power switch is form the back of PS3 system is on.
    • If you carry on to boast problems then contact the Technical support.

If you see that the power status light is solid red then this will indicate that the PS3 system is off otherwise it is on the standby mode. By standby mode, I mean that the PlayStation 3 system is off but it is prepared for turning on by just pressing the power button.

The power status of the playstation 3 will appear to be solid green and this means that the PS3 is turned on and you will be able to navigate the XMB, access Playstation store. If you want to turn this off then ‘you will only have to press and hold the power button for about 2 seconds. If in your case, the power status light is green and it is getting on or off then you should sent it for repairing. It is having some problem with the playstation 3.

If you found that the power status light is flashing red after you used the PS3 system for more than 3 hours then it indicated that the PS3 system is overheated. There may be many of the possible reasons for this and the main reason for this is the poor ventilation or else the vents might be blocked. So in this case, you should check that is the vents are blocked. If you found that the vents are dusty then you can vacuum the vents and remove the dust from that. If in your case, the PS3 system is within the enclosed area similar to the entertainment area then move that to the open area. You can also leave ps3 system off for about 30 minutes and let that to cool down. If after these also, one is getting problem then it should be send for servicing.

Green flashing power status means that the PS3 system is turning off and you will have to wait while it turned off completely. It will not turn off right away when you press the power button. Never power off it when the green light is flashing as if you do so then it will corrupt the data on your hard drive which is on use.

I am agreeing the above post. Other than this, if you found that the green light is continue to flashing after a long time then it will indicate that ps3 system is trying to write something on hard drive or running some programs. Some of the times it takes more time to shut down and that are totally depend on when you press the power button. If the green light is flashing for very long time then you can press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds and the console will beep and will turn off the PS3 system.

In some of the cases the power light goes flashing green to yellow and from yellow to green. If this is the case for someone then it will indicate that there is some problem with the internal part in the PS3 system. There might be any of the reasons for this and only some expert can get this solved.

If there is some disk inside the PS3 system then you will see the status light as solid blue. If you wish to take that disk out then you will have to press and hold the eject button for about 2 seconds and you will see that the disc status light will flash and this indicate that the PS3 system is trying to eject the disk. There is one point to be noted that the power indicator light will always be solid green. If you have linserted the disk in that and it is not showing on the xmb or it is not playing then this means that there is some problem with the reader ,and you should check for that.

If you get that the light flashes blue constantly then it is the problem with the disk that is stuck within the system. And this happens where there is no way to remove disc.
